The project Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS) will co-organise the 2026 ENAI annual conference, the European Conference on Ethics and Integrity in Academia 2026 taking place in September 2026 in Batumi. The initiative represents an important national effort to strengthen responsible conduct of research and research integrity in Georgian universities.
ETHICS brings together several Georgian universities that are working to improve institutional policies, training, and support structures related to ethical research practices. The project focuses on developing research integrity modules and MOOCs, establishing research ethics committees, and introducing new institutional roles, such as research integrity officers, who can guide and support researchers in addressing integrity and ethics issues in their work.
The project is supported by international partners, including Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Charles University, Masaryk University, and the ENAI. These partners act as mentors, sharing experience and best practices in building institutional frameworks that promote responsible research and academic integrity.
ETHICS stands as a strong good practice example of cooperation on a national level. By bringing together majority of universities from the country and the national stakeholders, the ETHICS project demonstrates how collaborative efforts can contribute to strengthening institutional practices and fostering a sustainable culture of research integrity and responsible research.
