Academic integrity as key competence for sustainable development and United Nations SDGs (AIKUNSDG)

Project Summary

This project is the first attempt at a global scale in bringing together experts, early career researchers, educators, and students to shed light on academic integrity as a possible key competence of sustainable development and contribute as a high-impact research contribution, thus creating knowledge for a better world.

The project aims to help develop a deeper understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) from an academic perspective, looking at how academic integrity values may map to some or all goals as a key competence. In doing so, we will collect real-world cross-sector case studies that support each mapping and present them as part of a book both in print and digitally. Ultimately, the mapping process, which will have students as partners, will allow us to not only prepare staff and faculty but also train our students for greater graduate success through work-integrated learning, empowering them with the right values as life-long learners to make the right decisions that will work towards achieving the SDGs in their near future.

Project duration: 18 months (August 2022 – December 2023)

Funding Programme: 2022 Wollongong University Global Research Small Grant Scheme

Budget: AED 17,866
