2. Why is the dissemination of research important?

   It is important in order for researchers to boost their careers.

   It facilitates further research based on one’s result, but since much research is publicly funded it should also be made available to the public.

   It allows researchers to separate good research from bad research.
3. What does it take to be a co-author on a research paper?

   One should have contributed in a way that was necessary for the research presented in the paper.

   In the case of PhD students, they should have performed a research related task. Supervisors, on the other hand, may qualify as co-authors in virtue of being the supervisor of a PhD student's work.

   One should have made a substantial contribution to the paper, participated in either drafting the paper or revising it for intellectual content, approved the final version to be published and agreed to be accountable for the work.
4. What is a contributorship statement?

   It is a statement that provides personal details of the co-authors of a paper and the research related tasks they have been responsible for.

   It is a statement listing all contributors to the research paper, co-authors as well as other contributors, and their respective contributions to work presented in the research paper.

   It is an addition to the authorship byline, listing those who have contributed but without fulfilling the criteria for authorship.
